A time of ‘regathering’
At Emmanuel, we’re opening various spaces over September and October to help our community come together. We’d love to welcome you to connect with others and to explore some of life’s deeper themes and questions, however you’d feel comfortable. Everything is free, and open to people of all faiths and none.
From September 21-24, we’re celebrating the return of our Flower Festival. This year is themed around ‘Encounters’, and we’ll have arrangements that highlight all the breadth of our lived experience, and the different ways we can encounter God through those. The church will be open throughout the day, as will our café, and everyone is very welcome to come and enjoy the beauty and creativity of the displays.
In October, we’re opening up several conversation groups, called ‘Alpha’, for those who’d like to explore the deeper questions of life. Alpha is a space to talk about life, faith, and meaning in a relaxed environment – with coffee, croissants, and a crèche on Monday mornings, with afternoon tea on Monday afternoons, or with dinner on Wednesday evenings. All the details are on our website, and if you’d appreciate the space to ask questions or talk things through, you would be very welcome.
We love Stoughton, and we love our local community. We believe that life works best when we do it together, serving each other and reflecting the love that God has for all his people. At Emmanuel, we believe that we’ve been given good news to share – that God’s presence is available to all of us in our lives, and that he demonstrated it by coming to earth in the person of Jesus, and dying in our place on a Roman cross, in the full view of human history. We believe that Jesus is alive today, and is changing lives for the better, here and now.
We love Stoughton, and we love our local community. We believe that life works best when we do it together, serving each other and reflecting the love that God has for all his people.
In any community, we all have a part to play. We’re always in need of more volunteers to help us host the community café, or to help raise money for charity by helping in our fairtrade shop. We run parenting and relationship classes, cookery courses, and work with our local schools to support those families who are most in need.
Everyone is welcome at Emmanuel, whether you’re a person of faith or just someone who wants to serve our community together. We’d love to welcome you – whether to our café for some cake, to the Flower Festival in September, to a Sunday service, or to our Alpha course to have a chance to chat to others about the big issues of life.
As we start this new term, I pray that we might all find deeper community and healthier relationships, reflecting the love of the one who made us for himself, and loved us first. You are so welcome to join us, as we work with each other to serve Stoughton together.”
